Ian Reid’s Video: Bootlegs & B-Sides

As of June 15th, Ian Reid’s Video Remix is available. Instead of writing a review for it, I figured we’d do something else. While all versions of the videos contain similar boobs and ghetto antics, the skating in each one tends to change more than anything else, even though it’s prioritized as third in the Sex, Hood, Skate and Videotape title. The following videos are small sections that were filtered out as the video got cut down or drastically different sections from the first edition of the video, when it was still called Tales From the Hood and passed around on DVD-R, before it became an internet sensation.

Rodney Torres Section
…also featuring Moya, Joey Alvarez and some other people. Pretty much none of this footage saw its was into the video once it saw wider distribution. There’s some gems in there from the late-90s though.

Original Chris Schiafone Part, Lil’ Jason, Charles Lamb & Philly Section
Schiafone’s part in all subsequent versions of the video was about three times longer than it is here, but he didn’t skate to Lil’ Flipper over a Pimp C vocal sample. Lil’ Jason didn’t make it into future versions and a lot of the Philly footage didn’t either.

Kyle James Bonus Section
Dubbed as “A ‘Real’ New York Legend,” you’d have to be an idiot to disagree. Anyone who can do switch 360 flips in Timbs, not to mention somebody whose entire roll of footage is filmed on either borrowed or stolen boards definitley deserves the “legend” title.

Brian Wenning & Ian Reid - First Edit
This is the first edit of their part, when they skated to the “Line ‘Em Up” instrumental. About 25% of this footage made it into the cuts that are around today, which are significantly more updated than this one, granted it’s a lot of Photosynthesis-era Wenning footage. The intro is pretty funny, although R-rated, so I couldn’t put it on Youtube.

And if any of you contact me through my non @quartersnacks.com e-mail, I switched to gmail instead of yahoo, so it’s basically my full name @gmail.com, not yahoo. Or you can just send it to info@quartersnacks.com and I’ll get it there anyway.

Make sure you pick up the remix video because Mooney has a trick in it.

My Posse’s on Broadway

There have been a lot of long, lost items that I’ve been on the search for, and two have just recently come to light..

The Forgotten City.com posted the 411 Washington DC Metrospective a couple of days ago, and it is far and away the best regional montage in the history of regional montages. Until people from your city start doing switch flip front noses in Timbs, you can’t really compete with it. Even with Youtube and all that, I still haven’t come across it since about four years ago when they had a VHS dub of it at ABC.

This has nothing to do with skateboarding, but some random hip-hop blog uploaded 80 Blocks From Tiffany’s in eight parts on Youtube. If you have any interest in gangs, New York, the 70s/early 80s, you liked Style Wars, Downtown 81, Wildstyle or any documentaries from that era, it’s definitley a must watch (no, it’s not about art or graffiti). Otherwise it only floats around on shitty dvd-r copies on eBay.

Pardon me if I’m late on this, but when did Ryan Sheckler get down with Lil’ Jon and BME?

It’s going back up to 90-degree highs this week, enjoy tonight and tomorrow, because real summer is just about here..

I Make It Rain, I Make It Rain, I Make It Rain, I Make It Rain on These..

We managed to squeeze a clip in before summeritis starts to set in and the days start to turn into festivals of sitting around smoking Newports and drinking Arizonas in 90-degree weather. It’s shorter than normal, mostly because there isn’t a second section of nonsense, but I have a pretty good feeling there’s going to be a lot of lesbian make-out sessions in future clips, but let’s not leak too much insider info.

Return of the Weiss + Extras

Speaking of which, summer officially starts tomorrow.

The TF Goes to a Petey Pablo Concert

If you’ve been wondering why the TF has seemed so empty recently, it is because about half of its normal inhabitants got bunched up in a van and drove down to North Carolina for what may or may not be a Petey Pablo concert. You can see the various molestations of small, rotund children here, here, and here.

P.S. The purpose of this entire post is really to have an excuse to use the photo above.
