We are currently unable to confirm that Thando is in fact off the Quarter Snacks roster, Matt Mooney’s press agents seem to not have their facts straight. By the way, history was made on Broadway last night. If you saw it, I’m sure you’re equally speechless. |

| “Yo, I Got a Blog” |

Above is what I apparently used to do with my skateboarding magazines in the fifth grade. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH GRANDMA? by Pryce Holmes. In the past two weeks, there has been a massive influx of blogs by people in New York who somehow or other connect to skateboarding, except the content of each blog tends to focus on the non-skateboarding aspects of our activities (which is understandable, seeing as how it’s 33 degrees out every day and everyone seemed to forget that there are spots that aren’t on 12th Street and First Avenue). Bear in mind, that I am imposing a very strict boycott of filming at 12th and A for the duration of it’s existence (I’m assuming some idiot, most likely from the Bronx, will ruin it for everybody before the end of March), so Quarter Snacks may be your only safe haven from the oncoming onslaught of plastic bench footage from everyone. Lurker Lou’s blog is Dejalou.blogspot.com. Billy Rohan’s blog is Billysnuts.blogspot.com and it features 75% 12th and A updates. Galen DeKemper’s blog is Morethangalenandmiles.blogspot.com. Hollywood High 16 on a Scooter. Tricks on scooters are honestly significantly more interesting than most skateboard tricks. Paulgar has a Youtube channel and posted several montages here and there. Stick Up Hoes is back. They didn’t update, so I’m not linking them. Quote of the Century: “I got a joke. Well, it’s not really a joke, but it’s kind of true. It’s that you know what’s good about sweatpants? There’s no zipper. So you never have to worry about your fly being open.” - Ben E.T. |

Ryan Hickey - Back Tail @ Time-Life - Sometime in the 90s I haven’t posted some old photos in a while, and it’s cold as hell out, so this is a particularly appropriate way to update for the time being, or at least until the highs begin to be above 40 degrees again. I had to re-vamp some things because I got bummed on the way the site looks. Everything looks better when it leans to the left, so that whole centered thing had to get taken care of. If you’ve been coming here for a while, you’re probably familiar with my stance of the Slap Message board being arguably the worst thing on earth. Recently though, I found a single redeeming feature of it that actually earned it the honor of getting bookmarked in addition to inciting a non-spamming post about Quarter Snacks on my behalf. Some bright individual came up with the idea of starting a New York City photo appreciation thread, which then led to a gradual uncovering of many long lost photographs I have not seen in years. It takes several pages to filter yourself through the post-2000 photos, but there are still tons of 90s photos that will have you crying about how there are no more spots in New York. They are gradually beginning to put more info out there regarding the New York Skate Movie, which is now apparently know as Deathbowl to Downtown. Check out their website for some clips, trailers, photos and other info. Still no sign of a release date though. Steve kindly updated Square Films with his first clip longer than thirty seconds in two years. Some guy made one of the few worthwhile skateboard blogs I’ve come across. Policeinformer.blogspot.com is filled with tons of 1990s interviews from the likes of Carroll, Mariano, etc. and tons of classic photos/ads, including the best back smith ever, pictured below, and this Ryan Hickey Zoo ad. I broke out the scanner and have some stuff in the same vein coming soon.
Why Rappers Shouldn’t Have Clothing Lines. Lakai is re-releasing the Staple with some modifications. Daniel Castillo has a pro board. Later. |
