We here at Quarter Snacks have put together yet another “best of” compilation like we did at the end of 2006, encompassing all of the better footage we’ve had on the website over the past year and a half. There aren’t too many new bits of footage in it, if any at all — but taking into account the overall memory of the average person watching skate clips on the internet, it should come off fresh since everything has been condensed into parts for all the people featured on the site, like it was with the last video. Can’t Ban the Snackman: Volume 2 has been completed, and should be released towards the end of April / beginning of May. I’m waiting on Watermelon Alex to complete his video, Watermelon 2, which is projected towards the end of this month (and actually does have new footage from everybody in it), and we’re going to try and rig something with a dual premiere, with the Best of Quartersnacks video being an appetizer for Alex’s video. The video itself is going to be distributed for free on DVD. We’re not going to put it on Google or YouTube because most of you have already seen the same footage in compressed quality, so it defeats the purpose. It will be available at several locations for free, but chances are, you’re going to have to be in New York if you want a copy. The Official umm… Trailer* For Can’t Ban the Snackman Volume 2 by Michael “My Lease Runs Out in Two Months, Sick” Gigliotti *Obviously the video is sequenced so it has straight skating the whole way through and no nonsense. Aside from maybe some 16mm of pigeons here and there. I actually had a life-altering quote of the week, but I feel that it would be in the interests of preserving the decency of this website and the Quarter Snacks name for me not to post it. It has been dubbed “trifest quote of all time” by several sources. Sorry for the inconvenience. |

On April 20th, Billy is hosting a best trick contest at the wind tunnel located on 12th Street. Expect a lot of people who you never see in the city [except maybe occasionally at Union Square, licking the wax off the curbs] to be trying kickflips down the wooden ten stair to get their moment in the limelight. In fact, this contest in itself is wholly misrepresentative of the ideals put forth by “best” trick contests. Given the date [4/20 fool, woo], it will inevitably wind up being a who-is-able-to-function-best-on-a-skateboard-after-getting-high event. But let’s get to the real dilemma at hand here…
There can only be ONE King of Spring, and that title has been long established and secured with a Wendy’s mascot wig. Although the real King of Spring is actually John Mooney, none of you know who that is, so we are going to have to settle for the next best thing. So without further ado.. |
