Rainy Evening Links

090608-1.jpg

It hasn’t rained like this for a long time, so here are some time killers for anybody stuck inside looking to get distracted for a few minutes.

Van Wastell Rest in Peace

Jersey Dave’s Bro Model is now available at Drop In Skatepark. Limited to 50 boards.

Supreme finally got back on track and made camo pants.

Montages from 1998 had way more heart than they do nowadays. (Features plenty of late-90s New York City sightings).

The guy from Boil the Ocean put together this eight-minute part of Josh Kalis footage compiled from montages, b-rolls, credits, and semi-obscure parts. The best thing you’re going to see on Youtube in a while.

Back to School Special

090508.jpg

Although we typically celebrate the end of a season that promotes skating as opposed to the opening of an institution that deters it, before this Young Jeezy album came out, I couldn’t muster up the energy to sit in front of a computer screen, import footage, and put together a clip. Thankfully, this used-to-be-fat-ninja-turtle-look-a-like guy from Atlanta put out another masterwork and it benefited all of us. You can download the summer finale back issues here: End of Summer 2007 and End of Summer 2006.

Asians can skate over fire hydrants too.

Features Ty Lyons, Thando Beschta, Kevin Tierney, DJ Roctakon, Matthew Mooney, Miles Marquez, Switch Michael Strobert with his first substantial amount of footage since summer 2003, and THE BOSS. Contributed filming by Mr. Two-sandwiches-in-one-sitting himself, Brengar. Crazy World..

A Bunch of Stupid Links

082508.jpg

The Quarter Snacks video has been lowered a whopping two dollars. So at this point, I’m just trying to cover shipping charges, not even make my money back. If you still want it, it’s over here for four bucks.

Ted posted another 1990s skateboard story on his blog relating to a passionate love for Ricky Oyola, mid-90s Philadelphia, Love Park, robberies, the illuminati, and everyone else in the Sub Zero video. You could watch that video here if you want to fall in love too: Part 1, Part 2.

Alien Workshop has been sending a wave of erections through the Slap message board by posting really short clips of footage from the upcoming video, which apparently isn’t coming out until next year now.

Really random, but a sick brief PJ Ladd part from the original E.S.T. video, which also happened to be the best of the bunch.

John Roman and Jack Greer are having a photo show in the West Village, just south of the Meatpacking District (near the Bank Street Gap) on Friday, September 5th. Flyer here.

Michael Phelps’ eight gold medals are appearing in the next Young Jeezy video.

Weekend Update

082308.jpg

Michael Phelps’ run at the Olympics — eight gold medals, seven broken world records — is unprecedented, and according to Phelps he couldn’t have done it without Young Jeezy. Phelps typically listened to the Jeezy/R. Kelly collaboration “Go Getta” before hitting the pool, which Jeezy himself doesn’t find surprising. “All my music is inspirational,” he told Rolling Stone’s Evan Serpick. “You just gotta listen to the words and get what you can get out of it.” THAT DON’T MEAN SHIT, I DON’T KNOW YOU!

Steve posted some high end art footage over at Square Films.

Visual Traveling Summer 2008 Clip. Features Billy Rohan, Charles Lamb, etc.

R.I.P to everyone’s favorite Houston Street American Apparel ad.

In case you didn’t know, the smaller ledge here has been knobbed.

Hot Fun in the Summertime (Guest Clip #2!)

082008.jpg

Dan Santiago sent me this montage he put together out of the blue. It’s actually a lot better than the typical curb cuts and Ziegfield footage that you see up here during the summer. Features Alex Davis, Jerry Mraz, Taji Ameen, Leo Gutman, Brett Nelson, Leo Gutman, Steve Antonecchia, Ricky Espinoza, Joe Antonucci, Dave Caddo, Anthony Morales, Jay Burton, Evan Smith, James Frankhouse, Josh Maready, Luis Tolentino, James Reres.

A montage of footage I filmed within the past three and a half years plus some new treats. Additional filming by Davy Marrero & Chris Thiessen.Summertime Montage [40.8MB / 2:06].

The brilliant Craigslist find above is courtesy of Barry Livan’s blog. Skateboard and a hat. Priceless.
