A Bunch of Stupid Links

082508.jpg

The Quarter Snacks video has been lowered a whopping two dollars. So at this point, I’m just trying to cover shipping charges, not even make my money back. If you still want it, it’s over here for four bucks.

Ted posted another 1990s skateboard story on his blog relating to a passionate love for Ricky Oyola, mid-90s Philadelphia, Love Park, robberies, the illuminati, and everyone else in the Sub Zero video. You could watch that video here if you want to fall in love too: Part 1, Part 2.

Alien Workshop has been sending a wave of erections through the Slap message board by posting really short clips of footage from the upcoming video, which apparently isn’t coming out until next year now.

Really random, but a sick brief PJ Ladd part from the original E.S.T. video, which also happened to be the best of the bunch.

John Roman and Jack Greer are having a photo show in the West Village, just south of the Meatpacking District (near the Bank Street Gap) on Friday, September 5th. Flyer here.

Michael Phelps’ eight gold medals are appearing in the next Young Jeezy video.

Tropic Tailslides

I don’t really have anything important to post up here, but I was tired of looking at the image below so here are a few time-killers..

Taji goes to Europe.

Short teaser for the Zoo York State of Mind video.

Somebody buy this for me, because the quality on this one sucks. Definitely #1 on the personal list of videos needing a DVD treatment.

Rosssssssss!

Watermelon 2 DVDs coming soon.

New Teaser For the Green Diamond Video

John Roman updated his website with new photos of nice pretty girls.

I’m sure everyone saw this coming for a long time, but you know that skate videos are really beginning to take a new (internet-ized) form when 411 is just about done.

Funny Ironic Mash-Up #58579490685

This dog is the next Mike Mo.

Regarding the Converses that were on here a while back… the overall shoe came out alright if you don’t mind having a bit extraneous weight (relative to an average skate shoe) on your foot, or if your foot isn’t extremely narrow. The thick sole probably accounts for the majority of the heaviness, and is kind of a bulkier take on the smushy Nike E-Cue shoe that they used to produce The toe cap never really rips, instead, the suede strip that holds the laces in tact tends to take most of the tearing, depending on how far in you set up your foot for kickflips. The sole itself lasts pretty long too, but may take some getting used to if you’re accustomed to more typical vulcanized shoes, or something with a thin sole like a Dunk. I’m not sure how they’re going to shape up relative to to the more popular generic shoe companies having their take at skate shoes, but with some minor tweaks they can shape up to be a pretty good shoe for wide-footed people.

…call that bitch my bodyguard. Call that bitch your bodyguard? Yeah that’s my bodyguard!

Throw Yourself Over the Banks Rail for Money

Don’t forget that a major work of art is premiering this Friday.

Dos Sandias > The Dark Knight

071808.jpg

The best video parts of the year are as follows: 1. Ben Nazario in Dos Sandias 2. Little Chris in Dos Sandias 3. Alex Mosley in Dos Sandias 4. Jake Johnson in Dos Sandias 5. Danny Weiss’ line in Dos Sandias

In all seriousness, the new Watermelon video deserves a place in the canon of classic New York City skate videos. There are no handrails or grass gaps. No flashy editing or stupid titles. Just 100% creative street skating and a culmination of what skating in the city is actually like. On top of everything, it is a perfect example of how spot choices can really enhance the enjoyability of a video. This one is bound to send a few people to the Spots board on Official New York. Above all, it contains a line at Lenox Ledges that does not involve skating the ledges.

Copies should be available in the near future. I’ve been put in charge of distribution, so the two places they will inevitably be are Autumn and this website. If you missed it, the trailer can be found here.

While on the topic of videos, the 2nd Nature video is available at Autumn for $8. Contains Brian Brown’s third part this past year, and Jose Pereyra’s anticipated part, which surpasses what you would typically expect from a shop video. All in all, its a solid 25-minutes of skating, without any nonsense sprinkled between.

Speaking of which, Ty Evans is an asshole for the way he put together Lucas Puig’s part in the Cliché remix video. Anybody who says they enjoyed it, or “appreciated” it is an asshole, and a liar. It is never a good sign when you start to fast forward past somebody’s intro, only to realize that the entire part is in slow motion once the credits start to roll and you’re still fast forwarding.

The best eBay auction ever if you’re a fan of 90s skateboarding.

..and for the record, Nas is officially the worst. If he had a decent album to back up looking like a kook, it would be ok in my book. But unfortunately that is not the case. Any artist who wears purple jeans is immediately disqualified from a greatest-of-all-time list, classic first album or not.
