"The Fake Barcelona Spot"
tribeca
If youíve been browsing through the spots section for a while, you probably noticed a recurring theme ‚ in New York, the ìperfect spotî doesnít really exist. Even the best spots that youíll never get to skate due to security, i.e. the Apple Store on 5th Avenue, Lincoln Center, etc. all have some inherent terrain problems beyond their respective bust factors. This spot, is probably the only place in New York you could mistake for being somewhere in Barcelona or Paris if you saw footage of it. The pictures should pretty much do all the talking here, but the ground is glossy, flawless marble, on top of which are two perfect marble ledges, at an ideal height, complete with ends, and even a six stair promptly afterwards if you were to be so lucky to skate here for more than five seconds and wanted to try a line. At the adjacent building are two granite ledges over five, an a gap over a fountain and wall onto the street that extends about four feet in length and two feet in height.

I think the introduction to this spot fairly sums up the chances of skating here for more than ... umm ... five seconds. And by no means am I speaking in superlatives when I say five seconds. The only reason this is even included on the website is because miracles are known to happen. If you plan accordingly and dodge the right cameras, you can get some time here, itís been known to happen. Just know that your best chances are probably on the coldest days of the year.

Charles Street and the Westside Highway. Take the A, C, or E to Canal Street, skate west on Canal until you hit the Westside Highway, and then skate north until you reach Charles Street.
