Note that all the pictures of this spot were taken right after all the ledges were sandblasted.
First off, let me say that this is bar-none, the worst name for a spot ever. I feel like an asshole for even using it, but itís the most common name for it, so to avoid confusion Iíll have to succumb to the demands of the mob.
This really is one of the best spots downtown, the problem of course, is the bust. Thereís a handful of secrets about skating here, but youíll have to figure them out on your own. This spot used to seriously lack any security presence when it was first built, but predictably, it became the most popular spot in probably all of Manhattan for a good month, and a perpetual hangout spot when you skate downtown, so the management of the building quickly deaded that.
The entire plaza is located in an upstairs region to an adjacent Water Street office building. Thereís an assortment of wooden benches that you can skate, two sets of seven when you first enter, and the entire concrete pit of stairs that is the most commonly skated part of the spot. Thereís a three block (equivalent to a six-stair), and a five block (equivalent to about a ten or eleven set), and all of the landings quickly run into a pit of astro turf after the initial spot of concrete. All of the bottom ledges can be skated, including one with a diesel curve. Thereís also a low step-up ledge and a handful of other low ledges at the western tip of the plaza as well.
