pyramid gap
alphabet city
This is your definitive New York spot: completely imperfect, far off from any recognizable portion of the city and not utilized by anyone except skateboarders. It's rarely skated, and is more of a footage spot than anything else. The main obstacle is a gap off a four stair, over two stairs, extending about three-and-a-half feet below it, into a narrow, three-foot wide runway with a fence to your left and a curb to your right. The runway is somewhat rugged, but manageable, and extends about thirty-five feet behind the four stair. Additionally, there's two pyramids: one of five steps, and the other of four steps, each about twenty feet in length, with one again, a rugged, but manageable top surface. The floor here is mostly sidewalk, so you'll have to deal with the occasional crack here and there.

You won't get kicked out of here, but during the summer especially, there's a lot of little hood kids running around that could get in your way.

Avenue C and 13th Street. Take the L to First Avenue, skate south on 1st Avenue for one block, make a left, and skate east for four blocks.
