The IBM ledge is a smooth metal ledge that is around fifteen feet in length, and two feet in height that sits on top of a very smooth marble sidewalk. There are other sides to the ledge, but the most commonly skated on is the one parallel to 56th Street because it has the best set-up for runway. There are ends to it regardless of which way you approach it. The top is also wide enough for boardslides and lipslides.
The building closes down after 10 P.M., so usually, you can skate all you want after then. Although you still have a slight chance of getting kicked out even after 10 P.M. Don't even bother going here before then.
56th Street and Madison Avenue. Take the N, R or W to 59th Street-5th Avenue, and skate east for one block. Make a right on Madison Avenue and skate south for three blocks.
