terminator rail

Granted that the city has a massive shortage of handrails that you don't get kicked out of, this rather imperfect spot has become one of the more frequented handrail spots in Manhattan. The nine stair rail has a long sidewalk runway and landing, although you'll run into a crack here and there - just not right where you pop. The rail itself is higher than an average handrail, and that tends to be the biggest detractor from the spot. On the contrary, the rail in front is abnormally low, although a bit short. The problem with it is that there is a garbage can usually chained to the bottom of it, and you need to put it under the bottom of the rail in order to skate it. The landing and runway for it are both ample.

You will not get kicked out of here, but do not come here after 7 or 8 P.M. [or any time when it's dark for that matter] because chances are, people from the building will throw stuff at you.

1st Avenue, in between 27th Street and 28th Street. Take the 4, 5 or 6 to 23rd Street, skate east on 23rd until you reach First Avenue, make a left and skate north and you will eventually see it on your left side.
