lenox ledges

Update ‚ Summer 2007: Urban renewal and all its glory has basically turned this former crack spot into a 1.5 million dollar (and up) luxury apartment neighborhood. As a result, this spot has become a place where you suffer a chance of getting ticketed by a bike cop for skateboarding. It isn't a guarantee, but is known to happen, and makes the spot somewhat lose its appeal since it was one of the few bust-free ledge spots in Manhattan. If your ticket merely says "skateboarding" you could basically have your case dismissed on the basis of the plaza not having any "No Skateboarding" signs and for the fact that skateboarding isn't illegal to begin with, but still, it may or may not deter you from wanting to come here.

Lenox is one of the better ledge spots uptown when you take into account how fast you get kicked out of all the others. Here there are four, eight-foot long, foot-and-a-half high planters on very smooth ground lined up after each other. They are all waxed well, and grind and slide perfectly.

You will not get kicked out, but there are crackheads posted up all over the ledges during the warmer months of the year so they may prevent you from skating.

110th Street and Lenox Avenue. Take the 2 or 3 to Central Park North-Lenox Avenue and the spot is right outside.
