straus park
west harlem
This is merely a local spot, and nothing worth going out of your way for. The central structure in the park is a half-foot high manual pad that stretches for about twelve feet and needs to be curved into in order to get a trick across it. The top surface on it is smooth and there is a curb that runs alongside it on the top that you could skate as well. There are two, thigh-high ledges that sit on both ends of the manual pad as well and can be approached from the top platform. Exiting the park is a slightly overlong four set with two low handrails going down alongside them. The only problem is, they both run along a spiked fence. The rail has only been noseslid so it should give insight into how dangerous it is. At the end strip of the park is a brick ledge with a rail on top of it that can be ollied or flipped over. It's about two and a half feet high.

The Parks Department people come here around noon every day, so as long as you're not there at that time, then you won't get kicked out.

107th Street and Broadway. Take the 1 or 9 to 104th Street and skate north for three blocks.
