mlk jr. high school

upper west side

Sadly, this is one of the better ledge spot in Manhattan that you have a good chance of skating bust-free. There are tons of painted concrete benches that are all about a foot-and-a-half high, four feet long and topped off with a grate at the bottom of every bench forcing you to grind the entire bench if you're trying anything on it. There's also a long, two-foot high wooden ledge that both grinds and slides well, although it has no end. If you're up for it, there's the infamous MLK 13 set, which has a good runway and a sidewalk landing that soon becomes the middle of Amsterdam Avenue.
66th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Take the 1 or 9 to 66th Street and skate west for one block on 66th Street.
Provided that you don't come here during school hours (if you do, chances are that you're going to get shot or stabbed given how friendly the people who go here are), you won't get kicked out 90% of the time. Sometimes there are basketball games and things like that going on inside so the security from the inside will tell you to leave. It's best to come after 8 P.M., on a weekend, or during the summer for your best chances.
